On Thurs 4 Sept, next term, we will be having a 1930s theme day to celebrate the school’s 95th anniversary. Students will be immersed in themes from the 1930s, such as the Great Depression, the rise of radio and music from this period, and the golden age of Australian cricket.
As part of the theme day there will be a 1930s themed dress up! If you like a good costume, then over the July holidays would be a great time to start planning!
Don’t have much of a budget? Neither did most people in the 1930s! It was common for clothes to be worn out and for cheap fabrics to be used.
Looking for some inspiration?
Watch movies from the 1930s (e.g. City Lights) or movies set in 1930s Australia. (e.g. One Night the Moon)

We’re excited to announce that a Historical Expo is coming this September – a special 95th anniversary event celebrating the rich history of our school and the amazing people who’ve been part of our journey from 1930 to today.
When: Mon 1 September to Fri 5 September
Where: Box Hill High School Hall
Official opening event: Tue 2 September
Expo viewing sessions for our school parents & carers: Mon 1 Sep, Wed 3 Sep & Thu 4 Sep
School tours and Expo viewing sessions for Alumni: Mon 1 Sep, Wed 3 Sep & Thu 4 Sep
Bookings will be required for these events. Please keep an eye out on Compass and in the newsletter or your email inbox for a Trybooking link.
Our students will get the chance to see the Expo during school time that week.
We can't wait to share some of the amazing historical photos, artefacts, and memorabilia that have graced our school community over the past 95 years!
We are excited to announce that as part of our 95th anniversary celebrations, we also will be hosting a Jazz Night in our School Hall.
This event is for our parent community and we invite all current parents to attend this fun social event. There is a limit to tickets so book early. Parents and carers can book either a table (8 people) or we can put people together on tables.
More information and a Trybooking link will be released early in Term 3 via Compass and the newsletter.
Music performances will include current and past students and staff.
