What a term it has been! Term 2 has been packed with exciting programs and learning opportunities across the Middle School. Congratulations to all our Year 9 and 10 students on a fantastic term!
Our Year 9 students have engaged in a range of meaningful workshops and experiences:
REACH Peer Dynamics workshop: Students explored themes of identity, relationships, and leadership in a safe and supportive environment. The workshop encouraged open dialogue and built stronger peer connections.
Project Rockit Mental Health workshop: This session focused on mental health, online safety, and respectful relationships. Students were empowered with strategies to navigate challenges both online and offline, fostering empathy and resilience.
City Experience Camp (9A–9F): Students stayed in the CBD for one night and completed research for their inquiry unit. This unit was also completed during Geography and Math classes. Students researched what it meant to live in Melbourne and had specific topics relating to our city.
Below (and in the banner image above) are photos of the City Experience Camp.
Below are photos of our Year 9 students presenting their city experience findings to their parents and carers at the 'Night in Naarm'.
Our Year 10s should be proud of completing their first round of exams. This experience is a valuable step in preparing for the demands of VCE, helping students build effective study and revision habits.
They also participated in full-day excursions through the Momentum program and Duke of Edinburgh Award. Activities included:
Level 2 First Aid certification
METEC Driving education course
Hiking Training days
Our Duke of Ed students also completed their first overnight hike at the Cathedral Ranges, preparing for their Adventurous journey later in the year (see separate article in this newsletter for photos).
We were fortunate to host Susan McLean, Australia’s leading expert on cyber safety. Her talk with our Year 9 and 10 students highlighted responsible online behaviour, digital footprints, and staying safe in a connected world.
Subject selection and course counselling for Term 3 is just around the corner. Students attended assemblies in Week 10 to receive important information about this process. Please keep an eye out on Compass for further communication.
As the weather cools, a reminder that all students are expected to wear full and correct uniform. Details about the school uniform can be found on the Bob Stewart website.
We hope all students and families enjoy a well-earned, restful break after a big term. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 3!
