Year 12 Business Management visit the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie

On 29 May, our Year 12 Business Management students visited the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie as part of their studies in Unit 3 for Operations Management. The visit provided students with a unique behind-the-scenes look at how a successful business manages its operations to deliver high-quality products and customer experiences.

During a talk with General Manager Caroline, students discussed the production processes, from sourcing ingredients and maintaining quality control to managing inventory and customer experiences. Concrete examples of theoretical concepts like corporate social responsibility and automation helped to make ideas a reality for students. They gained insight into how lean management principles are applied in a real-world setting to minimise waste and improve efficiency.

Of course, no visit to the Chocolaterie would be complete without tasting some delicious samples! The sweet treats were a definite highlight, making the learning experience both enjoyable and memorable. Students had the opportunity to show off their creative flair, making beautiful and delicious chocolate lollypops!

The excursion was a fantastic opportunity for students to connect classroom theory with practical application, reinforcing their understanding of operations in a real-world business environment.

A big thank you to the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie for their hospitality and to our Business Management staff for organising the excursion.
