Music update

We find ourselves at the end of Term 2 and the Music department has had a number of fantastic performances! As a cohort, we have noticed great growth from all students, and in particular, the new Year 7s who have now played for a semester are playing far beyond what we expect – great work Year 7s!
Our annual music camp was held earlier this term, and gave both Concert Band and Wind Symphony the opportunity to engage with an intense rehearsal process, and the chance to work with guest conductor Sue Arney. It was an excellent camp, with a lot of great playing from all, and both groups playing with greater nuance and expression in all their repertoire.
Our first ensemble performances have also happened this term, with all ensembles playing superbly in our school hall. We are looking forward to our biggest performance of the year next term in the Box Hill Town Hall on Thursday 21 August. As well as this, four of our ensembles will be involved with the Victorian State Music Festival, where they will receive feedback and hear other ensembles from around Melbourne.
Keep up the great practice, everyone. Remember, regular and consistent practice is the way to go!
