VCE VM Shave Rave fundraiser
by Sarah, Eleksia and Nicole - Year 11 Students
On 22 May, Year 11 VCE VM held a school fundraiser for the Leukaemia Foundation during recess and lunch. We raised a total of $3,380.55 in donations!
Our class started planning this event at the start of March and worked on it during every Personal Development Skills class, and also during our other classes with the costing and brainstorming.
We spent our lessons contacting multiple business, budgeting and collaborating to plan the event. Each student in our class was assigned different roles to participate, like making posters/ advertising, planning budget, contacting barbers, reaching out for donations, and stall set-up.
Before the day of the event, we were receiving donations from our online World’s Greatest Shave website. On the day of the event, we held a coloured hairspray stall at recess and lunch, then at lunch our class cooked sausage and onions to sell snags. During lunch we displayed a live tracker in the middle of the quad, which told the audience how close we were to reaching our donation goals and when a volunteer needed to shave their heads.
Throughout lunch time multiple we had reached our goal to shave their hair.
We would like to thank members of Tech Crew for assisting with the microphones, speaker, and live music.
We couldn’t have achieved our goal without the support of the BHHS community for their donations, thank you.
We couldn’t have done this without the help and support of our PDS teacher, Ms Chesterton, who also shaved her head for the cause! Thank you, Ms C!!!
