Wellbeing update

IDAHOBIT Day

On Friday 16 May, Box Hill High School held a lunchtime event to acknowledge the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. The day included rainbow-themed activities for all students to show their allyship for our rainbow community. This included applying rainbow face paint and nail polish, enjoying slices of rainbow sprinkle bread and wearing a splash of rainbow.

Peer Support

Our Year 10 students have been supporting our Year 7 students to settle into school life at Box Hill High School. There have been many peer support sessions across this Semester, focussed on supporting the junior students to navigate the campus, the different expectations of high school, build connections between themselves and explore extracurricular activities available. Thank you to our Year 10 peer support leaders, who have shown excellent leadership and genuine care for our younger students.

Resilience Project Webinar

As a Resilience Project partner school, we had the opportunity for our parents and carers to hear from parenting expert Lael Stone. The webinar provided practical strategies on how to:

  • Build stronger connections with your children.

  • Support them through challenging and frustrating situations.

  • Create a culture of cooperation in simple ways.

  • Manage your own triggers as a parent.

  • Understand and support big emotions in a way that helps children become emotionally resilient.

For any Box Hill High School parents and carers that were unable to attend the webinar, a link to the recording is available on compass newsfeed.

Reconciliation Week

To show our commitment to reconciliation at BHHS, Reconciliation Week events were held in Week 6. The week aimed to provide our school community with the opportunity to collective knowledge of First Nations culture and perspectives. Students were able to participate in indigenous sports games, build a reconciliation commitment installation and hear music from and learn the story of First Nations Artists each day.
