CROSS COUNTRY RUN

KSC CROSS COUNTRY RUN
The weather was perfect for our annual Cross Country on 2nd May. With our 3km and 5km courses being set on the grounds of the college, students from 7-12 were able walk / jog/ run with friends, on a pristine Autumn day. With some students competing to achieve their personal best, others took the opportunity to connect with their surroundings and breath the clean Gippsland air, as they engaged in some beneficial physical activity for the day.
With a 5km course to complete, the Senior and u/16 Boys set off first just before 2pm. The other age groups were staggered as they were to complete 3km.
Starting at the front of the office, weaving up and down the driveway, the students then headed up the driveway and along the rail trail at the back of the college before coming out at the back oval. A short run through the bushland and students were back completing loops on the back ovals before making their way back along the back of the college towards the finish line on the quadrangle.
An incredible effort with students respecting one another, the process and nature for this event.

INTERSCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY
A strong group of KSC students headed to Mary MacKillop College in Leongatha on Tuesday 27th to represent our college in the South Gippsland Cross Country (Interschool competition) over 3km and 5km courses. Luckily the rain held off, but the strong (and cold) headwind throughout the course proved challenging. All our students managed to finish their races with no injuries, and many of our students will progress to the Regional competition next week. Well done to everyone for their persistence in the cool conditions and to the staff who had to stand out in the cold wind for the entire set of races, well done!!
REGIONAL CROSS COUNTRY
On Wednesday, June 5th, thirteen of our dedicated students travelled to Drouin Golf Course to compete in the Regional Cross Country Championships. With the top 12 finishers in each category progressing to the State event in July, the competition was fierce — and our students rose to the challenge.
The day started on a high note with Kye Fisher (Year 7) delivering an impressive performance to finish 11th, securing a spot at the State Cross Country. A huge congratulations to Kye!
In Year 8, Mathew Churchill (17th) and Ruby Ogilvy (18th) ran strong races, demonstrating their determination and endurance. Our Year 9 runners — Locklan McIntosh (17th), Nya Kill (28th), and Tyler Mortimer (34th) — all put in solid efforts on the 3km course.
Jess Churchill (Year 10) placed 22nd, with Year 11’s Mia Trevethan (26th) and Bella McKean (27th) both finishing closely together, showcasing teamwork and perseverance.
In the Under 16 category, tackling the demanding 5km distance, Johnny Wilson (17th), Dallas Walker (23rd), and Lachie Moriarty (25th), all from Year 10, ran commendably in a tough field.
A special mention goes to Raoni Althorp (Year 12), who completed his final school cross country event with true grit — finishing the race while carrying a shoe in his hand after losing it a third of the way in!
Well done to all our athletes for their outstanding efforts and sportsmanship. You represented our school with pride and determination. Thank you for making it a memorable day!
