PERFORMING ARTS

This year at KSC our Year 7’s were able to explore Music and Drama separately; for Year 7 Drama the students explored drama skills with Ms Reymers such as voice projection, building confidence and improvisation through a range of different activities – they then explored the concept of Realism through scripting a performance piece titled “The Family.” The Music class explored elements of Music and gained a taste of some contemporary instruments learning to play a rock/ pop style song in small bands. Year 8 Performing Arts students explored the concept of Commedia dell’Arte, an early style of Italian theatre that is responsible for the popularisation of improvised and scripted comedy. They then spent their Music time learning about the Genre of the Blues and the Musical elements that characterise that style. Year 9/10 students worked with Ms Kennedy to explore serious drama scripting and working as a team to perform an act, working on instrumental development skills in a group setting. While spending their remaining Performance time working on a passion project of their choice in the Performance setting. A small VCE Music class ran this year showcasing some wonderful talent and demonstrating their high-level music skills at various performances throughout the year including all participating in our school production.
