YEAR 9

YEAR 9 – 2025
Year 9 in 2025 has been a dynamic and memorable year, filled with experiences that encouraged growth, confidence, and connection. A highlight was the three-day Melbourne camp, where students explored the MCG and National Sports Museum, tackled ice skating, laser tag and bowling, raced through the city’s landmarks, and visited the Old Melbourne Gaol and Queen Victoria Market. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and willingness to step outside their comfort zone made the camp a rewarding experience for all involved, and staff were incredibly proud of the way students represented KSC.
Back at school, students continued to build on their learning and future planning through the Morrisby Profile assessments and Career Action Plans. These tools provided valuable insight into their strengths, interests, and possible pathways, helping them set meaningful goals as they prepare for senior school.
This year, four of our students had the opportunity to attend the Leadership School in Marlow, where they took part in a series of workshops designed to strengthen both their personal and interpersonal skills. Throughout the program, they developed effective learning strategies, practiced emotional management, built resilience, explored identity, and deepened their understanding of empathy. They also engaged in activities that emphasised respectful relationships and collaboration. It was a valuable experience that has equipped them with skills they can bring back to our school community.
Supporting wellbeing remained a key focus through the Live4Life program, where students developed resilience and connection skills. Five student leaders also delivered a successful “Check In, Reach Out” day for the Year 8 cohort, with their efforts celebrated through a Go Karting excursion.
Live4Life - by Keira Dixon
Live4Life is about coming together with other schools to improve the mental health awareness. You spend one day together with our local schools (Mary Mackillop, Mirboo North, Leongatha, Foster and Korumburra) to brainstorm some words/phrases that contribute to mental health and the awareness. After this day you will have a theme, this is your theme for the year. At Live4life we use this theme to run fun activities, games, workshops all relating back to the theme.
This year (2025) we did the following activities;
Year 8 launch – In this the year 8s came to the school after hours and participated in a fun activity with lots of games and activities that made the kids connect with each other and related back to our theme of ‘No matter what your going through, someone is there for you’.
Hand Paining canvas – The year 8 and 9 students placed their hand prints on a canvas in different colours to bring us all together and to show our awareness for mental health.
Year 8s at splash workshop – The year 8 students went to splash and participated in a fun workshop that made the kids work together with other schools.
As the year comes to an end, we are proud of the maturity, curiosity and determination shown by our Year 9 cohort. With a year full of growth, challenges and memorable achievements, they are well-prepared for the exciting journey ahead.
