As we come to the end of another dynamic and rewarding year in the English Domain, it is a pleasure to reflect on the significant achievements, growth, and resilience demonstrated across our classes. This year has been marked by a renewed sense of purpose, a commitment to high expectations, and an impressive collective effort from both staff and students.

One of the standout indicators of this progress has been the improvement in our NAPLAN results. Students have shown positive results in writing, reading, and language conventions, reflecting not only their hard work but the sustained, thoughtful instruction provided by their teachers. These results are the product of deliberate planning, targeted intervention, and a strong focus on building essential literacy skills. More importantly, they demonstrate our students’ increasing confidence as readers, writers, thinkers, and communicators.

This growth has been supported by a dedicated team of English staff who have invested deeply in their professional practice. Throughout the year, teachers have collaborated to refine curriculum, strengthen common assessment practices, and embed evidence-based strategies into everyday learning. Their willingness to innovate, reflect, and differentiate with care has created learning environments where students feel valued and challenged. The Domain’s commitment to shared professional learning has been central to this success, building consistency while also fostering creativity and individual teacher strengths.

Our students, too, deserve recognition for the effort and determination they have shown. Whether engaging with complex texts or pushing themselves in writing tasks, many have demonstrated resilience and genuine intellectual curiosity.

As a Domain, we are proud of the culture we continue to build—one grounded in high expectations, supportive relationships, and a belief that every student can grow. The successes of this year are a testament to what is possible when staff, students and families work in partnership, and we look forward with excitement to the continued growth and achievement in the year ahead.
