YEAR 12

YEAR 12 - 2025
It’s a bizarre feeling reaching the finish line of thirteen years of schooling, isn’t it? One minute you were all wide-eyed Year 7s wandering the corridors trying to work out where on earth your locker was, and now here you are - the Class of 2025 - stepping out as young adults ready to take on whatever comes next. I remember many of you from your very first days here, and somehow I blinked and suddenly you’ve become the leaders of the school, the role models, and the ones everyone else looks up to.
For some of you, I’ve taught you for several years, and for others, I’ve had the joy (and sometimes the chaos) of being your coordinator. Either way, you’ve never been far from my office - usually for good reasons, occasionally because you “just needed five minutes” or to negotiate an extension that absolutely wasn’t happening. But hey, we got there in the end.
This cohort has given me so many memories to laugh about and look back on with pride. A few highlights that stand out include:
Watching you step up as genuine leaders - whether it was helping younger students, organising events, or simply setting the tone for what a positive senior culture looks like.
Year 12 Camp, where your mix of enthusiasm, teamwork, and a surprising amount of competitiveness made it a standout.
Group study sessions leading up to exams, where the STEAM became your second home, snacks became a food group, and you all helped each other stay focused, calm, and motivated.
The incredible vibe you brought to Athletics Day, Swimming Sports, and Cross Country, where your cheering, costumes, competitiveness, and willingness to get involved set the tone for the whole school and showed everyone what true school spirit looks like.
The conversations and laughs during ACE class, where you kept me updated on what you were getting up to in your everyday lives - from weekend stories to work dramas to whatever new chaos was unfolding - and somehow those chats made the room feel like its own little community.
Working with the VM cohort, whose resilience, humour, and work ethic made every lesson meaningful - even on the days when motivation was battling against the weather, deadlines, or sheer exhaustion.
What has always set this group apart is your character. You are kind. You include people. You show up for each other. In a world that can sometimes feel overwhelming or fast-paced, you’ve stayed grounded, supportive, and incredibly loyal to your friends and your school community. That’s something you should be proud of.
You’ve tackled the pressures of assessments, managed part-time jobs, balanced sport, family, and school, pushed through tough days, and celebrated the wins together. You’ve grown not only as students but as people - becoming more confident, more self-aware, and more willing to step outside your comfort zone. You should walk out of here knowing that you’ve earned every bit of success coming your way.
As you leave Korumburra Secondary College, take with you the qualities that define you: your humour, your determination, your empathy, and your ability to adapt to anything thrown your way. Whether your next step is university, TAFE, an apprenticeship, full-time work, travelling, or simply taking a breath before the next chapter - trust that you’re ready.
Class of 2025, thank you for the laughs, for the challenges, for the growth, and for letting me be a part of your journey. I’m incredibly proud of each and every one of you. I’ll miss seeing you around the school, but I’m excited to see where you go from here.
