Teaching & Learning Report
Steven Sirrals
As we commence the 2026 school year, I am delighted to welcome back our Woodmans Hill Secondary College community. We begin this year with renewed energy and optimism, ready to embrace new opportunities for learning, connection, and achievement.
We have a lot planned in the assessment space this year, as we continue to evolve our practices to ensure that our assessment feedback is timely and accurate for students, staff and families.
NAPLAN - Year 7 & 9
NAPLAN is fast approaching, happening in week 7 and 8 this term.
The NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) is a nationwide assessment that measures students’ skills in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation, and numeracy. It is conducted annually for students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 across Australia.
NAPLAN provides valuable information about each student’s learning progress, helping teachers tailor instruction to better meet individual needs. It also supports schools in reviewing their programs and identifying areas for improvement. While NAPLAN is just one measure of learning, it plays an important role in strengthening teaching practices and supporting student growth over time.
