Art Department Report

Tegan Crosbie

The Arts Department has had a fantastic start to the term, with students enthusiastically engaging in a wide range of creative projects.

Year 7 students are creating imaginative Marine Mutants, Year 8 students are exploring still life, Year 9 electives are experimenting with felting and landscape, and Year 10 students are developing creative artist books. Our VCE students are deeply engaged in idea exploration, experimentation, and the development of resolved concepts, creating vibrant and purposeful learning spaces.

We are incredibly proud to congratulate 2025 Year 12 student Wilby Fredericks, whose work has been selected for the 2026 NGV Top Arts exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria. Top Arts is a prestigious annual showcase of outstanding VCE student work from across Victoria, with only a small number selected each year. This marks a first-ever achievement for Woodmans Hill Secondary College and reflects Wilby’s exceptional dedication and creativity.

We also congratulate 2025 Art Making and Exhibiting students Madi Tabone and Wilby Fredericks, who are exhibiting in the Next Gen exhibition at the Back Space gallery, Ballarat Art Gallery. This professional exhibition opportunity highlights the high calibre of creative practice emerging from our school, and we are extremely proud of their achievements.
