What a busy Term 1 has been! It has been wonderful to see students engage in their learning as I have walked around the school. It has been especially pleasing to see our Senior students working together and studying hard to get the best outcomes.

This term, our Year 7 and 9 students participated in NAPLAN, which began with some initial disruptions. I commend our students for the calm and resilient manner in which they responded, returning the following day with focus, enthusiasm, and a readiness to perform at their best.

Learning at Melba has extended beyond the classroom this term. We were fortunate to enjoy ideal weather for our annual swimming carnival, providing a fantastic opportunity for students to come together and celebrate their House spirit. It was particularly pleasing to see students across all year levels supporting one another, demonstrating our STRIVE values, and engaging so positively in the day. We look forward to providing another opportunity for students to participate and show their House pride in Term 2 at our Athletics carnival.

Term 1 has been an exceptionally busy and productive period for our school community. It has been a pleasure to observe students actively engaging in their learning across classrooms. In particular, it has been very encouraging to see our Senior students collaborating effectively and demonstrating strong commitment to their studies in pursuit of positive outcomes.

Students have also been actively involved in STRIVE classes, where they have been exploring future career pathways and developing an understanding of their individual leadership strengths.

I wish students and families a great break during the upcoming holidays. Please take time to rest, relax and enjoy some wonderful weather before knuckling down for Term 2.
