Principal Report
Mr. Matthew Lee

Term 1 has been a very positive start to the 2026 school year at Melba College. It has been wonderful to see our students return with enthusiasm and settle quickly into new routines, classes and learning expectations. The calm and focused way students have approached the beginning of the year has helped create a strong learning environment across the school, and I thank our staff and families for supporting this smooth transition back to school life.
Our Stage 3 building works are progressing well, with the demolition phase now largely completed. This marks an exciting milestone as we move closer to the construction of our new facilities and oval. These developments will provide modern, engaging spaces that will enhance learning opportunities for our students for many years to come. We appreciate the patience and flexibility shown by our community while this important work takes place.
We are also continuing to explore new opportunities for students both inside and outside the classroom. This includes our developing collaboration with Fernwood Chirnside Park, which is creating valuable opportunities to support student wellbeing and engagement. In addition, we are working on proposals for new camp experiences that will further broaden the opportunities available to our students and support their learning beyond the classroom.
Alongside these developments, planning has begun for the next stage of improving our school grounds. The area between Building B and Building C has been identified as the next space for beautification. We look forward to transforming this area into a more welcoming and functional space for students and the broader school community.
I am incredibly proud of the many positive efforts already demonstrated by our students this term—whether in the classroom, through extracurricular activities, or in the way they represent our school each day. Their commitment to learning and personal growth is inspiring, and I look forward to seeing all they will achieve throughout the year.
Thank you to our families and staff for your continued support of Melba College. Together, we look forward to another successful year ahead.
