Wellbeing Team Update

The Wellbeing Team have had a busy and productive beginning to the year, with many students accessing the wide range of supports and services available. At recess and lunchtime, the centre continues to be a welcoming and vibrant space where students can access food support, connect with peers, and seek assistance from staff. It has been wonderful to see students confidently returning to the centre, remembering how to access support, and making use of the services when they need them.

Throughout the term, the Wellbeing Team has also been actively planning and delivering a variety of programs and initiatives aimed at supporting students’ social, emotional, and mental wellbeing. These programs focus on developing skills such as resilience, emotional regulation, building positive connections, managing friendships and peer relationships, leadership development, and mental fitness. Students have also had opportunities to participate in wellbeing-focused activities, health days, and engaging lunchtime events designed to foster connection and a sense of belonging within the school community.

A highlight of the term was the Melba College Wellbeing Expo, held on 17 March, which was a great success. The event brought together a range of local and community support organisations, providing students with valuable information about services available to support their wellbeing both within and beyond the school. We were pleased to welcome representatives from organisations including YSAS, EACH, and members of the Local police, among others. Students had the opportunity to engage with these services, ask questions, and learn more about the support available in their local community.

The Wellbeing Team would like to thank all the organisations that participated in the expo and contributed to making the event both informative and engaging for our students.
