The start of 2026 has been one of great success for English at Melba College. Throughout the first term, students have been engaging with a variety of skills and content relevant to their development as modern learners and citizens. The majority of year levels engaged in the process of 'Crafting Texts', in which they explored a framework of ideas that inspired their creation of a written text with a clearly stated purpose, audience and context. The development of fundamental elements of effective communication and the purposes of various text types has been invaluable in equipping young people with the critical capacity to make their own decisions and conclusions when encountering information in their day to day lives. 

We look forward to Term 2, in which all students will be engaging in text studies, sharpening their analytical skills for application in the form of text response essays.
