Sub School Year 9/10

Miss. Sophie Williamson

As we come to the end of the term, we would like to take a moment to acknowledge the hard work and dedication shown by our Year 9 and 10 students. It has been a busy and productive term, with students engaging in a range of learning experiences, assessments, and extracurricular opportunities. Many students have demonstrated resilience, growth, and a positive attitude towards their learning, which has been wonderful to see. Their efforts in the classroom, as well as their willingness to challenge themselves, have contributed to a strong and supportive learning environment.

Our Year 9 students have had a fantastic start to the year as they settled into their new timetables, including a range of elective subjects. It has been wonderful to see students developing their skills in areas they are passionate about and genuinely excited to explore. Throughout the term, students have also focused on building their interpersonal skills during STRIVE, while beginning to consider future pathways and career possibilities. This has been further supported through Morrisby testing, where students gained valuable insights into their strengths, interests, and potential career directions. Next term, they will build on this by exploring their results in greater depth and engaging in meaningful discussions about their future options.

It has also been very pleasing to see such strong participation in our sporting events this term. A large number of Year 9 and 10 students were involved in the Swimming Carnival, showing great enthusiasm and school spirit as they proudly represented their houses and supported one another. In addition, many students have taken part in interschool sports, including volleyball, tennis, and cricket. These opportunities not only promote physical wellbeing but also encourage teamwork, resilience, and a strong sense of community.

Our Year 10 students have also made an excellent start in their Work Related Skills classes. Throughout the term, they have been exploring a range of job industries and developing a deeper understanding of the skills and attributes required in the workforce. This has been a valuable opportunity for students to begin thinking more seriously about their future pathways and the possibilities available to them. We look forward to seeing them continue to build on this knowledge and confidence as the year progresses.

We are incredibly proud of the way students have conducted themselves and the progress they have made, both academically and personally. As we head into the break, we encourage students to take time to rest, recharge, and reflect on their achievements this term. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next term, ready to continue building on this success and striving for even greater accomplishments.
