Learning Support Report

Laurie Johnson

A Term Full of Growth, Connection and Success

It has been an incredibly rewarding and productive term for our Learning Support team, with students across all year levels engaging in a variety of targeted programs and activities designed to build confidence, skills and connection.

One of the standout successes this term has been our small group Sounds-Write sessions with Deb. Students have been working consistently towards their individual literacy goals, and the growth we are seeing is fantastic. From improved decoding skills to increased reading confidence, these sessions are truly making a difference—and the students are feeling proud of their achievements.

Our Gardening Program has also been blooming (we couldn’t resist!). Students have been getting their hands dirty while learning valuable life skills, teamwork and responsibility. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm as they nurture and develop our garden space, with plenty more growth to come.

Naomi P’s Sports Program has been another highlight, giving students the opportunity to get active and build their skills in a fun and supportive environment. Whether it’s shooting hoops on the basketball courts or practising footy skills on the oval, students have been loving the chance to get outside, move their bodies and enjoy some healthy competition.

Across the school, our Learning Support Officers (LSO's) have been doing an exceptional job building strong, positive relationships with students. This is evident in the increasing number of students seeking support, asking questions and welcoming LSO's into their classrooms. These connections are key to creating a safe and supportive learning environment where students feel confident to take risks and ask for help.

Shay’s Literacy Intervention classes have also seen fantastic success this term. Students are not only developing their literacy skills, but are also building confidence in their ability to succeed. It has been incredible to watch students recognise their own progress and begin to believe in their capabilities.

We are incredibly proud of the work happening within Learning Support and the positive impact it is having on our students. We look forward to continuing this momentum into next term!
