Art Department Report

Tegan Crosbie

It has been a busy and exciting time in the Art and Design spaces, with students across all year levels engaging in creative and enriching experiences.

Our Year 11 and 12 Art Making and Exhibiting students recently visited the National Gallery of Victoria to explore Top Arts alongside the Westwood|Kawakubo exhibition. This excursion supported their upcoming outcomes focused on gallery practices, curatorial approaches, and exhibition design. Experiencing these major exhibitions firsthand provided valuable insight into how artworks are presented and how curatorial decisions shape audience engagement.

It was especially exciting to celebrate the opening of Top Arts, with Tegan Crosbie attending alongside Wilby Fredericks, whose work has been selected for exhibition. This is a fantastic achievement and a proud moment for our school community.

Back in the classroom, our Year 8 Art students have been developing mixed media still life artworks, exploring composition, texture, and material experimentation. In Year 9 Textiles, students have been busy creating felted brooches and keychains, building their skills in fibre techniques while producing vibrant and tactile designs.

The ILC was also transformed for Open Night, showcasing a range of impressive student work and celebrating the creativity and talent within our Art and Design programs. The space looked fantastic and was a highlight for visitors on the evening.

We look forward to sharing more creative achievements throughout the year.
