R.I.S.E

At NMPS, we have clearly defined behaviour expectations across all areas of the school. These expectations are aligned with our R.I.S.E values: Respectful, Inclusive, Sagacious and Ethical. Teachers explicitly teach what these behaviours look like in different settings - such as the classroom, playground, and specialist areas - so students understand not only what is expected, but why it matters.

Our four R.I.S.E mascots - Responsible Ranya, Inclusive Isaac, Sagacious Sadie and Ethical Ethan - help bring these values to life for students. They provide a shared language across the school and encourage everyone to “RISE up” and contribute positively to our community.

We actively recognise and celebrate positive behaviour through our Positive Behaviour Recognition system. When students demonstrate expected behaviours, families are notified by email so successes can be acknowledged both at school and at home. In addition, weekly lessons from Prep to Year 6 explicitly teach and reinforce social, emotional, and behavioural skills, giving students regular opportunities to practise and reflect.

When students require additional support, we provide clear, consistent, and supportive interventions to help them learn and improve. When mistakes occur, we approach them as opportunities for reflection, growth, and skill development, ensuring students feel supported while being guided towards positive choices.
