Rosey Rhubarb and Beans Galore!

The Year 6’s are continuing to cook up a storm in the kitchen. Over the past couple of weeks we have been using lots of our summer produce from the garden. The rhubarb has been flourishing and produced some very large stems which were perfect for our roasted rhubarb and strawberry compote. Our beans have been climbing to the sky and have been providing us with some abundant harvests, ready to be sliced and added to our dishes. 

 

On the menu was

 

Summer Fruit Salad, Oat and Sunflower Seed Granola with Roasted Rhubarb and Strawberry Compete and Yoghurt

 

Mie Goreng with Egg Omelette, Tofu, NMPS Garden Beans and Chillis

These recipes provided the students an opportunity to practice their knife skills, thinly slicing rhubarb and peaches, as well as green beans and capsicum. The granola recipe required precise measurements and patience whilst cooking, while the Mie Goreng recipe produced many omelette making masters, each with their own technique and flipping skills.
