Year 3 News

From Ahmed Al- Hameli, Year 3B teacher
Our Confidence is Growing!
Over the past few weeks, our Grade 3 learners have been building their confidence by practising key skills that will support them during NAPLAN. Our reading sessions have focused on:
- Language Conventions — including spelling, grammar, and punctuation
- Reading Comprehension — understanding, interpreting, and responding to texts
It has been wonderful to see students engaging thoughtfully with these skills through our targeted practice activities.
What we are reading in Grade 3!
Students have also been enjoying recommending books to each other — a great way to build reading stamina and comprehension skills!
Lily recommends Monkey vs Bunny because it’s very funny and full of mini stories.
Ruben suggests Gangsta Granny — he enjoys David Walliams’ humour.
Alessia recommends Ninja Kid from our classroom library.
Lucyis reading All’s Faire, about a knight going to middle school.
Ethan enjoys The Treehouse series because it’s funny and includes pictures.
Nikola recommends The Babysitters Club, about Karen winning a spelling bee.
Elliotloves Choose Your Own Adventure books because you never know what will happen next!
JJis also enjoying The Treehouse series as a familiar favourite.
As we approach NAPLAN testing in Week 7, we’d like to remind families that students will need to bring their own headphones for the assessment.
We will also be completing a mock NAPLAN test in Week 6 so students can practise using the online platform and feel confident with the format.
Please ensure your child brings their headphones in during Week 6 as well, ready for this practice session.
