We have had a busy two weeks in Grade 2! 

Our Grade 2s have begun their deep dive exploration into the history of communication, with a specific lens on the Australian context. 

We are looking at this history in our reading sessions, where we can zoom in on non fiction text features and practice our comprehension skills. 

We have also read The Dreamtime Story of Tiddalik and discussed the importance of oral storytelling in Aboriginal culture and history.

Writing

We are introducing self regulated strategies development (SRSD) planning templates, including the TREE planner for persuasive writing and a Narrative graphic organiser. Our Grade 2s are understanding the importance of thoughtful and deliberate planning and writing from that plan. 

Mathematics

We have continued our focus on place value in maths, with a focus on renaming three digit numbers in standard and non standard ways. We have practiced these skills in individual tasks, as well as partner games and collaborative discussions. 

Technology

We have begun our introduction to the iPads. This means we have reviewed and agreed to our tech agreement and we are beginning to learn how to use the iPads safely. A big focus and skill in Technology class is sharing, teamwork, and collaboration, as the Grade 2s share the iPads and must work together on their iPad work.
