Senior School  Report

Jessica Hollands

Over the past few weeks, our Year 10–12 students have been involved in a range of activities that have showcased leadership, resilience, community spirit, and preparation for the future.

Our Year 10 students have been actively involved in Careers Week activities. These experiences encouraged students to begin exploring future pathways, career opportunities, and areas of personal interest. Developing an understanding of future possibilities is an important step as students begin planning for their senior years and beyond. These activities will be helpful for Year 10s as they prepare to head off on Work Experience in a few week's time.

Our Year 11 VCE VM students did a fantastic job organising and running the Mother’s Day Stall. Their efforts in planning, promoting, and managing the event helped create a wonderful opportunity for students across the school to celebrate the important motherly figures in their lives. Thank you to all students and staff who supported the stall.

Several of our Year 12 students have also been participating in the Branch Out mentoring sessions. This valuable program provides students with the opportunity to connect with mentors, build confidence, and further develop their pathways and future aspirations. It has been wonderful to see students engaging positively and making the most of these experiences.

As we begin to approach the first Year 12 exam of the year, the General Achievement Test (GAT), our Year 12 and Accelerated Learning Program students have begun completing Practice GAT sessions.

These sessions are an important part of preparing students for the GAT and help build familiarity with the expectations and conditions of the assessment. We encourage all students to continue developing strong study routines and making the most of the support available to them. Less than four weeks to go!

Our Year 12 VCE VM students recently hosted a special Mother’s Day and Motherly Figures Afternoon Tea for their cohort and invited guests from Year 7. The afternoon was a lovely celebration filled with gratitude, connection, and community spirit. Students should be commended for the care and effort they put into making the event welcoming and enjoyable for all attendees.

Another highlight for the Year 12 VCE VM students was their recent 24km hike to Creswick. This challenging experience required perseverance, teamwork, and resilience, with students supporting one another throughout the journey. It was fantastic to see students stepping outside their comfort zones and demonstrating determination and positivity along the way. We're glad to report no injuries aside from myself, who fell over at only 6km in! I'm glad the students did a better job of looking out for the uneven ground!

In a highly anticipated and entertaining event, staff claimed victory in the annual Year 12 Staff vs Students Basketball game. While the students showed plenty of energy and enthusiasm, the staff’s experience ultimately proved too strong this year. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported the event in great spirits.

It has been a busy and rewarding few weeks across the Senior School, and we are incredibly proud of the way our students continue to represent the school through their participation, leadership, and commitment.
