Year 11 Report

Rebecca Dawes

The first four weeks of Term 2 have been full of engaging learning opportunities and positive involvement from our Year 11 students across both VCE and VCE VM programs.

Our VCE students have been participating in a range of rich and hands-on learning experiences within their subjects. Psychology students explored brain structure and function through a brain dissection activity, while Biology students attended the Biolab excursion to extend their understanding of key scientific concepts. Business Management students attended a screening of a biographical drama film to help build case study knowledge and evidence for an upcoming assessment task, and Legal Studies students took part in a mock trial activity that allowed them to apply their understanding of legal processes in a practical setting. In English, students have been showcasing their creativity through the development of their own dystopian texts. These are just some of the many great things going on in our Year 11 classes this term.

Within the VCE VM program, Year 11 students have been undertaking a jam-making project that has involved designing and planning all stages of the production process. Students have been working collaboratively to develop recipes, design packaging, make the jam, and promote their final product. It has been fantastic to see students building their teamwork, organisation, and enterprise skills through this project.

At the beginning of the term, we also recognised students who achieved 100% attendance during Term 1. Congratulations to Meagan O, Saskia M, Arabella M, and Shawn Y on this achievement.

Consistent attendance is an important factor in student success, and we encourage all students to continue prioritising attendance throughout the year.

In sport, Year 11 students have continued to represent the school with pride. Congratulations to Mia A, Ebi M and Ronyel D, who competed in the State Senior Girls Volleyball Final. We also had students participate in the Eureka Cross Country event this term, with Kael S, Cooper N, and Mia A representing the school at this level.

Looking ahead, students will be involved in Careers Week activities. This will provide valuable opportunities for students to explore a range of career pathways, learn about future study and employment options, and begin thinking about the pathways they may wish to pursue beyond school.

We look forward to seeing the Year 11 cohort continue to grow and engage with the many opportunities available throughout the remainder of the term.
