Year 10 Work Experience - Monday 15th - Friday 19th June

The Year 10 Work Experience week is fast approaching in Week 9. This is now less than four weeks away. Well done to the large number of students who have organised their Work Experience week and thank you to Parents/Carers who have supported with this. We understand it’s not an easy process to find host employers and this is a first important step.

While many students have secured a placement and have handed in their paperwork, there are still some "in process" with students waiting to hear back from employers or who have not found a placement as yet.

Just a reminder that support is available to assist students in securing a placement, and students are encouraged to be proactive and talk to the Careers team as soon as possible.

Parents/Carers can also contact the Careers Team to discuss work experience ideas or to supply electronic copies of the Work Experience paperwork.

There will be no normal Year 10 classes for this allocated week as our goal is to have 100% of students on Work Experience for that week.

It's an invaluable opportunity for all students to develop workplace skills and to assist their planning for subject selections for Years 11 and 12.

Morrisby Career Profiling – All Year 9 Students

On Monday 18th May, Year 9 Students completed Morrisby Career Profiling. Students complete a range of online questionnaires and assessments before a final student career profile is provided.

Morrisby supports students with:

  • Learning more about yourself and the careers you could be suited to.

  • Identifying the direction of your abilities to help you make decisions about future career and course options.

  • Learning about your: Aptitude – Strengths & Potential, Working Preferences, Motivations and Personality

  • Career and subject suggestions

  • Identifying your innate (natural) strengths and using this knowledge to help you choose subjects and careers that match your natural abilities

  • exploring apprenticeship and higher ed options linked to your preferred careers & subjects

Students will also have a log-in-for-life and can view their profile further in the future as careers and preferences change over time.

There will be an opportunity provided for students who were absent on the profiling day to complete a catch-up.

Important Reminder: Can we please ask that all Morrisby consent forms are returned to school by Friday 22nd May as this Parent/Carer consent is required for students to participate in the one-on-one Morrisby profile unpacking interview with a Morrisby consultant. If your student requires a new form, these can be collected from the Careers-Pathways Office or emailed to Parents/Carers.
