Home Group Report
Gabriella Dumesny
This term in Home Group, students have been taking part in a range of activities designed to build positive relationships, strengthen wellbeing, and support future planning. We are currently in Week 5, and students across Years 7–12 have been focusing on setting SMART goals. This has encouraged students to think carefully about their personal learning, wellbeing, and future aspirations, while developing practical steps to help them achieve success.
Over the past few weeks, Home Group sessions have also included a strong focus on respectful relationships. Students began the term by building connections within their groups before exploring topics such as personal and cultural strengths, gender norms and stereotypes, positive coping strategies, help-seeking, safer socialising, and positive gender relations. These discussions provide students with opportunities to reflect, share ideas, and develop important life skills in a supportive environment.
This week will also focus on Careers Week. Students will explore pathways, interests, and future possibilities, helping them make connections between their learning at school and the opportunities available beyond the classroom.
In Week 6, students will participate in activities connected to National Reconciliation Week. This will be an important opportunity for our school community to reflect on the significance of reconciliation, deepen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures, and consider how we can contribute to respectful relationships and a shared future.
