The Ballarat Marathon
The Ballarat Marathon was held over the ANZAC day weekend, and it was yet another amazing event for the Ballarat community. Over the weekend it was fantastic to see so many of our Woodmans Hill Secondary College community running, spectating and volunteering. The vibes were certainly high around the town, with restaurants busy with runners 'carb loading' and coffee shops packed to the brim with spectators staying caffeinated whilst cheering on a loved one. Congratulations to Adam McNicol, Woodmans Hill Secondary College parent and key organiser of the event, along with every Woodmans Hill Secondary College community member who ran, cheered or volunteered at the annual event. We can't wait for 2027!
Resilient Youth Survey
Over the past few weeks, our students have participated in the Resilient Youth Survey (RYS), which explores a range of health and wellbeing factors impacting young people. The survey provides valuable insights that help us better understand student life experiences and continue to strengthen the supports and opportunities available across our school community. We use this important data to determine the health and wellbeing focus of each cohort.
Students Attitudes to School Survey
Alongside the RYS, students are also currently completing the Student Attitudes to School Survey. This important survey gives students the opportunity to have a voice in many aspects of school life, including learning, wellbeing, relationships and connectedness to school. We value student feedback and use this information to guide future planning and improvement priorities. The survey will be conducted across the next 3 weeks.
Common Routines
During Term 2, we continue to focus on our whole-school common entry and exit routines and our common call to attention. These consistent practices help create calm, predictable and safe learning environments where students know what to expect and can focus positively on their learning. Establishing consistency across classrooms supports student wellbeing, engagement and success for all learners.
Uniform
As the weather cools down, we are already seeing an increase in students wearing hooded jumpers underneath their school clothes. Hooded jumpers are not uniform, and students will be asked to remove out of uniform items if worn to school.
Our uniform has many options available that allow students to layer their clothing, including long sleeve shirts, woollen jumper and two varieties of coats/ jackets. All of our classrooms are also heated. On PE days, students are able to wear the PE uniform including the rugby jumper and again, this can be layered with the school coat/ jacket.
Should you require support purchasing new uniform, please contact your child’s Year Level Leader. Alternatively, we do also have some second hand uniform in stock, please contact the Administration Office to discuss available items.
