VCE & VCE Voccational Major Report
Claire Blower
Please be advised that the 2026 General Achievement Test (GAT) will take place on Tuesday 16th June 2026. We have been working with all our Senior students to run practice sessions, explain the process and expectations surrounding the GAT.
We acknowledge that, for many, this may be the first formal examination with external supervisors that they have completed for their studies, or for some VCE VM and non-scored VCE students, the first exam in their senior years. We understand this can feel daunting and can be anxiety provoking for some.
To support students in their preparation, we have organised:
Practice Numeracy and Literacy support sessions
Two shortened examination practice sessions, allowing students to experience the format and timing of the GAT
All students are required to sit Section A of the GAT (VCE VM, VCE Non-scored, and VCE students). Only VCE scored students are required to also complete Section B. On the day, Section A will run in the morning at 9:00am – 11:15am and Section B will run in the afternoon from 1:15pm – 3:00pm, all students who are only expected at Section A can go home after the their session ends at 11:15am.
Further information regarding the structure and timing schedule for the day will be communicated to students and families closer to the examination date.
We encourage students to engage with the preparation opportunities provided. Please reach out if you haven't already if you have concerns regarding the General Achievement Test, for your child's feelings around the GAT or if you want any further information.
