Hands on Learning Report

Written by Kyle Lastiani - Hands on Learning Student

This term in Hands on Learning, we have been continuing the Yarning Circle and now we are almost finished. It’s been a difficult job mainly because there was no rain and the ground was as hard as a rock. We had to take a layer of grass off the 3 shapes we are making. The shapes represent the indigenous symbol for meeting place. After this we got 6 cubic metres of soil and had to move it all in to place in 3 periods. It was ‘dirty’ work especially because I laid down in the pile of dirt. We finished the edging of each shape and mulched the top. In a couple of weeks, we are going to Bunnings to do some activities, and we are buying all our plants to fill the Yarning Circle garden. Then hopefully we will be finished. We’ve got a few more things planned for the rest of this term but you’ll have to wait until the next newsletter.
