Carers Victoria Young Carer Scholarship Program 2026

Applications Now Open

With more than 62,400 young people in Victoria who have significant care responsibilities for a loved one, there is a good chance you either know a young carer or are one yourself.

Young carers support family members with a range of conditions including disability, mental ill health, addiction, chronic illness, or ageing care needs. Many face challenges in education and socialising due to their caring duties.

What is the Young Carer Scholarship Program?

The Young Carers Scholarship program 2026 gives young carers attending secondary school in Victoria scholarships of up to $500 in acknowledgment of their contributions to their family and the community.

Scholarships are awarded to successful applicants in the form of a Prezzee Visa Digital Gift Card.

The scholarships can be used for further education, joining in school or community activities or helping young carers to further their creative or sporting passions.

Who can apply?

Secondary school students in Victoria providing care and support to a family member with a disability, mental ill health, addiction, chronic illness, or ageing care needs are eligible to apply. Please note: young carers who have received a Young Carer Bursary this year are not eligible to apply.

Scholarships of up to $500 are awarded to successful applicants in the form of a Prezzee Visa Digital Gift Card.
