Reading Recommendations

We have recently had a delivery of some great books. Many were recommended by students! The Library thrives when students help develop the collection. Some of their recommendations include:

Born to Run: The hidden tribe, the ultra-runners, and the greatest race the world has never seen - Recounts the author's experiences with the reclusive Tarahumara Indians, whose techniques allow them to run long distances with ease, and describes his training for a fifty-mile race with the tribe and a number of ultramarathoners.

Normal Women (teen edition) - This book is a radical retelling of the story of Britain--not of the rise and fall of kings and the occasional queen, but of social and cultural change, powered by the determination, persistence and effectiveness of women, from 1066 to modern times.

Prisoners of geography : ten maps that tell you everything you need to know about global politics - This completely revised and updated edition brings it up to date with the events and trends of the past decade, with new material including: the Russia-Ukraine conflict and Moscow's alliances with authoritarian states; the Israel/Gaza war; China's growing military and strategic power, and its stance on Taiwan; American global power and pivot to the Pacific; Europe's leaning towards more extreme politics, increased defence spending, and the new 'Iron Curtain'; Japan's remilitarisation and increasing power; great power play in Africa; and the growth of Indian economic and military power.
