Maestro Subject Dashboards

Year 7-12

Want to know more about your child’s progress in their units of learning? The Maestro Subject Dashboard 'By unit of learning' display shows

  1. Y 7-10 - the current Vic Curriculum levels for each unit of learning. This student is achieving level 8 in Real Numbers but there is no current data in algebra because this is a future unit or learning

 2. For VCE students this display is very helpful to parents and students in clarifying the Units of Learning in which they have already achieved a satisfactory result

We are working with the developers to introduce more information next term to show parents and students what are the Current, Completed and Future Units of learning, but for now I suggest a conversation with your child about their current VC levels and what they can do to improve further.

Learning Recovery Process

Thursdays 3:15-4:15pm

Please support this initiative.

Teachers refer students across Years 7-12 to Learning Recovery on a Thursday after school 3:15-4:15pm when they have outstanding class work or homework. Once referred students are expected to attend.

Learning Recovery is an opportunity for students to complete work with teacher support and it sends a message to students that deadlines and classroom expectations are not flexible. As such, students will not be removed from a learning recovery session once referred even if they have completed the work.

Please Note: Our VM SBAT students have a separate learning recovery program on Friday Lunchtime rune by Mr. Hoogkamer.

Students who do not attend will be referred to Monday Lunchtime Learning Recovery and if they miss this they will have to attend a Friday after school Principals Detention.

VCE General Achievement Test (GAT)

Tuesday 16 June

No VCE VM classes are held on this day however every Year 12 student must attend and Year 11s completing a Unit 3/4 subject must also attend.

Each year the VCAA sets and administers a state-wide test of our year 12 VCE VM students’ general skills. The GAT ensures school assessments and exams are accurately measured. It also checks if students meet the literacy and numeracy standards expected at a senior secondary level.

Structure:

  • Section A: Literacy (reading and writing) and numeracy.

  • Section B: General knowledge and skills in mathematics, science, technology, arts, and humanities.

Preparation: No special study is necessary, as it tests general knowledge gained throughout schooling.

Results: A GAT Statement of Results will be mailed to each student.

All information about the GAT can be found: https://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/assessment/general-achievement-test/gat-overview

Unit 3 Practice Exams

Week 2 Term 2 Holidays

Wantirna College

This new Term 2 Holiday Exam program is funded through the Knox Schools Network and our head of Humanities, Mr. Luke Mason, is leading this great new opportunity.

We are excited that so many different subjects are on offer. These exams have been specially developed and will be externally marked, with invaluable feedback given to our students to help them improve. It is very important to students learning and achievement prospects that they attend.
