Year 9 Mock Interviews

This week, our Year 9 students had the opportunity to showcase the skills they have been developing throughout the term in Explore by participating in mock job interviews.

Students selected a job to “apply” for, prepared a resume and cover letter, and spent time building their interview skills in class. On the day, they arrived ready and prepared for their interviews, where they were supported by both their Explore teacher and an industry representative. Each student received immediate feedback to help them continue to improve.

We were incredibly impressed by the effort and preparation shown by our Year 9s, and it was fantastic to see so many students dressing professionally and taking the experience seriously.

A sincere thank you to the many staff and community members who generously gave their time to support this valuable learning experience. We were fortunate to have volunteers from a range of organisations, including the Department of Education, OELLEN, Swinburne Jobs and Skills Centre, Career Start (Knox Council), Knox Youth Services, along with a number of our dedicated staff.

We hope this experience has helped build confidence and skills that students will carry forward as they apply for part-time or casual work in the future.

Year 9 Morrisby Profiling

Our Year 9 students have recently begun the My Career Insights program by completing the Morrisby profiling assessment.

As part of this process, students undertook an online assessment designed to explore their aptitudes, interests, personality traits, and preferred work styles. This provides valuable insight to support future planning.

Later this term, all Year 9 students will participate in a 30-minute session with a careers consultant from the Australian Centre for Career Education. These individual sessions will play an important role in helping students make informed decisions as they start thinking about their Year 10 programs and future pathways, including VCE and potential early-start subjects.
