Senior Boys Soccer Team

The senior boys soccer team turned up at Caulfield park with a reputation as the Kingston team to beat, with a squad packed with talent. In the group stage, Brighton swept past Sandringham College, Mordialloc College and Bentleigh Secondary, scoring 21 goals and conceding 0. Notable performances came all over the field, including hat-tricks for Sarp Gokbay, Angelo Gianniosis and one for goalkeeper-turned-centre forward Tyler Nicholas. Every single member of the squad played their part in their minutes on the pitch.
In the semi finals the challenge stepped up a gear as Brighton met Parkdale. It was clear that Brighton were the more talented side and the most likely to score and win the game, but Parkdale remained organised and tough to break down, clearly playing to take the game to penalties. The magic moment came later in the game when substitutes Ryan Marcina and Jamie Macleod combined to set up Sarp for a brilliant winning goal.
The old enemy McKinnon awaited in the grand final and what a game it was! McKinnon started brightly but Brighton quickly took control of the game and went ahead early in the second half. McKinnon quickly hit back with a dubious goal but Brighton won it after Bailey De Bruyne’s free kick was flicked home by Sammy Shedden. Brighton held on to take the deserved win and the flag and will march on to the next round in late July.
