Building Confidence and Career Readiness

Year 10 Mock Interviews

On Wednesday 14th May and Wednesday 21st May, the Year 10 cohort took part in a valuable real-world learning experience through Mock Interviews. This initiative gave students the opportunity to engage in a simulated job interview environment—helping them prepare for the real thing by practicing professional communication, refining their body language, and presenting themselves confidently.

Students were assessed on various aspects of their performance, including their interpersonal skills, presentation, and self-awareness—valuable feedback that will support their personal and professional development. Each student will receive an individualised evaluation form during the Year 10 Course Counselling Session in early Term 3, offering insights into strengths and areas for improvement.

The overwhelmingly positive reactions from students, many of whom left their interviews feeling proud and empowered, reflect the program’s success.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the dedicated volunteers who generously gave their time to support this important initiative. Your contribution has made a lasting impact on our students’ readiness for life beyond the classroom. Not only are our College Council members Harry Lohe and Alec Tarshis working with the school behind the scenes, they rolled up their sleeves and assisted in the Mock Interviews.

Below are student feedback comments about the Mock Interview experience and evaluation comments from the interviewers on student performance.

Student Feedback

• I was nervous at the start, but my interviewer made me feel very comfortable and the nerves just went away. It was a good and informative experience and I’m glad I did it.

• I felt like this mock interview really helped me with my ability to confidently answer questions on the spot.

• I believe I did well in my interview as I was well prepared for it from the sessions we had with Ms Dim and Ms Drechsler. The interviewer provided good feedback.

The interviewer asked me questions which helped me think about my future, my strengths and weaknesses. Good amount of feedback. An enjoyable experience

• I think the session was very informative and providing me with lots of tips on how to improve my resume and cover letter. It was a very beneficial exercise.
