Assistant Principal's Report
Julia Bay
Welcome to the 2026 school year at Doncaster Primary School! It has been a wonderful start to the year and I want to congratulate all of our Prep students and families who have settled so smoothly into the DPS community. Welcome also to all of our new students and families across the school, it has been a pleasure meeting you over the past few weeks.
All DPS students and staff have enjoyed the opportunities to get to know their new classmates and teachers and set up their expectations of a productive classroom during our start up program in the first 2 weeks of school. When visiting classrooms, it has been wonderful seeing friendly and suportive interactions and clear routines in place which build a positive learning environment.
New Performing Arts Program and Room
As always, it was a busy summer break on the school grounds with some works being completed while the students were away. Our new Performing Arts and before/after school care room is looking great after new carpet installation and being repainted. Student have really enjoyed utilising this space as part of our new Performing Arts Program, a great addition to our specialist program.
Whole School Assembly
On Thursday 19th February we welcomed all of our students and many families to our first face-to-face whole school assembly. We congratulated and acknowledged our JSC representatives and captains, our new SWPBS captains and our House Captains. We know they will all show our school values of determination, pride and success as they carry out these roles over the year. At our school assembly we celebrated Lunar New Year with a Lion Dance performed by the Chinese Youth Society of Melbourne. Please see photos of this spectacular perfomance below.

New Playgrounds
At the assembly last week our school captains announced that our new Junior and Senior playgrounds will be installed in March. To select our new playgrounds, students from Prep to Level 6 were surveyed about their favourite playground features with monkey bars, slides and climbing features being the clear winners! This information was used to design our new playgrounds, the plans for both can be seen below. We are very excited for students to have the opportunity to play on these very soon.

Thank you everyone for a great start to Term 1, I look forward to a great 2026 school year ahead.
