Grade 6’s final year of primary school is well and truly under way! They received their Grade 6 bomber jackets and polos and have been wearing them with pride. 

 

Interschool Sports training is underway with many students having a go at a new sport outside their comfort zone. Our summer sports include basketball, softball, tennis, rounders and cricket. Students are excited for their first round robin tournament next week. 

 

Grade 6 Leadership Announcements

Congratulations to all our Grade 6 students who have been awarded leadership roles this year! It was wonderful to see so many students apply for roles, deliver thoughtful speeches, and listen respectfully to their peers.

 

A special congratulations to our House Captains, who have been elected to represent their houses:

Finally, congratulations to our Junior School Council (JSC) Captains, Mietta M and Danial N.

Mathematics

This term in Mathematics, students have been exploring natural numbers, with a focus on number properties and patterns. They have investigated prime and composite numbers and developed their understanding of the properties that define square and triangular numbers. Students are now beginning to explore how patterns can be created and extended using algorithms, strengthening their problem-solving and reasoning skills.

Reading & Writing

This term in Literacy, students have been exploring narrative texts and developing their skills in predicting and inferring. They have demonstrated strong critical thinking when responding to texts studied in class, using evidence to support their ideas. Students have also been learning how authors build suspense and engage readers through effective narrative techniques. A key focus has been on improving their writing by showing events, thoughts, and feelings through descriptive language, rather than simply telling the reader what is happening.

Theme

This term in Theme, students have been exploring the key events and functions of the Australian Parliament and deepening their understanding of what democracy means. They have also been learning about past Prime Ministers and their contributions, gaining insight into how leadership shapes the nation.
