Performing Arts

Welcome to Term 1 Performing Arts at DPS.

I am very excited to be teaching Performing Arts this year at Doncaster PS.

Dance Term 1

This term across the whole school we have been focusing on Dance.

Each class has an hour of Performing Arts once a fortnight.

We have explored a range of different dance genres from various cultural backgrounds. and styles. These include Tai Chi, Persian dancing, Indigenous, Greek dancing, breakdancing, hip pop dancing, disco and classical. Students have had the opportunity to practise their dances learnt last year also.

Music

All students have also been learning a range of classic Australian songs along with practising the Australian National Anthem and I am Australian.

Other songs include: Give me a home amongst the gum tree, The koukabara sits in the old gum tree, I still call Australia home and the Ants go marching in.

The Preps have thoroughly enjoyed singing "You are my Sunshine".

Assembly

It was lovely to see parents at our face to face assembly last week admiring 3R singing the National Anthem and I am Australian.

Choir, Dance and School Band at lunch time

Every Wednesday and Thursday lunchtime the Choir, Dance and School DPS band have been busy rehearsing "Seven years" and "Reach for the stars". A huge shout out to all these students for giving up their lunchtimes and demonstrating independence, leadership and initiative. Well done.

I would like to thank Amelia's Dad Irwin from 4D for lending his keyboard for school rehearsals.

Good vibes

I am very proud of the all the DPS students, who are very excited and are immensely enjoying Perfoming Arts this term. There is a general happy vibe around the school and students are happily humming and dancing to tunes at lunchtime! Bravo! Keep dancing and singing DPS!

Please feel free to reach out to me any time.

I look foward to an amazing school year ahead!
