It has been a busy and productive time in the Wangaratta High School Library. We are proud to unveil several new initiatives. Read on to discover how we are bridging the gap between a traditional library and modern digital resources.
Library Website
Wangaratta High School is thrilled to announce the launch of our new library website. This library portal is designed to put help all students access important resources. Whether you are deep in the trenches of a research project or looking for your next favourite novel, our new platform is built to help you succeed. This isn’t just a library website; it is a resource for academic excellence and personal growth at Wangaratta High School. Students can jump into the new library portal using either of these two methods:
- Official School Website: Navigate to the WHS website and select the Library portal from the Resources tab.
- Compass Favourites: Look for the star icon (Favourites tab) at the top of your Compass dashboard and select the Library link.
Computer charging
Running low on battery? The library now has a locked and secure computer charging station available to keep your devices powered and ready to go. We have a variety of chargers on hand during Recess and Lunch time, including USB-C, for newer laptops. We also have Dell chargers, Lenovo chargers, and Acer chargers. Next time your battery is running low, head over to the Library and plug in!
Library Ambassador Program
We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Library Ambassador program at the Wangaratta High School Library! We are looking for dedicated student leaders who embody our school values to help maintain our library as a safe, welcoming, and vibrant hub for study and connection. As a Library Ambassador, you will gain hands-on experience in everything from mastering customer service and organisation skills to creative display design and book reviewing. This is a fantastic way to take ownership of a vital school community space while building an impressive resume for your future. Keep an eye out for our upcoming class visit or visit the library to request a application form.
WHS Book Club
Love a great story and even better conversation? Join our newly formed Book Club to share your favourite reads and connect with fellow book lovers in a relaxed, social setting. Head to the library desk today to grab an application and help shape the future of our school’s reading community!
Chess Club - Looking for a way to sharpen your mind, outsmart your friends, and have a blast? We are thrilled to announce the launch of the WHS Chess Club, hosted right here in the library. Whether you’re a Grandmaster in the making or have never even touched a chess board, all skill levels are welcome. It’s the perfect place to build your strategy, focus, and friendly competitive spirit. Ready to make your move? Sign-up sheets are available now at the Library desk.
Commemorating Anzac Day in the library
To mark ANZAC Day this year, the library featured a special display. It was great to see so many people stopping by to look through the exhibit and engage with this important part of our history.
