What a busy week of Woodmans Hill Secondary College Interschool Sports!
Starting Monday: Kara and myself took a team of: Mia Allen, Charlotte Biggin, Ronyel Delgado, Lekayha Gillespie, Sami Hassan, Ebi Merrett, Amelia Middleton, and Bonnie Prenc to Daylesford SC for the Eureka Intermediate Girls Volleyball event. Being placed in a pool with BOTH Daylesford teams was always going to be a challenge, however the girls demonstrated our school values throughout the day to a very high standard. The games were played best out of 3 sets:
The first 2 sets going to 21 points, and the deciding set going to 15 if needed.
Results:
R1: Daylesford A Loss 0-2
R2: Mt Clear Win 2-1
R3: Daylesford B Loss 1-2
3rd Position in Pool A, took us to the 3rd VS 3rd game against Mt Rowan in which we won 2-0. This left us with the place of 5th overall on the day.
The number of sets won does not reflect the strength of this team, putting up very strong performances against high quality teams. Again, proud of the performance of the team.
Moving on to Greater Western Region Swimming, which held at the Horsham Aquatic Centre yesterday. Taylah and I took Harry Browne and Jonathan Van Egmond on a trip across the Wimmera to compete in the events that they excelled at during Eureka competitions.
Even against the best the Greater Western region had to offer; our students still found success. Harry achieved a 2nd place in the Boys 17-20 Multi Class 50m Backstroke, and Jonathan achieved 3rd in the Boys 12-15 200m Individual Medley. Great result for the boys, we are very proud of their efforts.
That concludes School Sports Victoria sports for Term 1!
We turn to our Athletics Carnival next Wednesday, as well as our Cross-Country event which will be in Week 1 Term 2.
Also, final reminder for students to sign up for Sports teams for next term.
Looking forward to a bigger term of sport next term!
