Year 9 Artmaking: Exploring Landscape and Charcoal Drawing
The Year 9 students have been immersed with learning about landscape art, making the most of the warm weather with a recent en plein air (in the open air) drawing session. With the guidance of Miss Crosbie, they explored the rich textures and expressive qualities of charcoal while drawing trees, a subject inspired by the famous landscape artist John Constable.
As part of this hands-on learning experience, each student selected their best piece of work to showcase. Their efforts culminated in a carefully curated display, which was set up for the school’s Information Evening. The students were not only able to demonstrate their artistic skills but also learn the importance of curating and presenting their art to an audience.
The session was a perfect combination of creativity, technical skill, and an appreciation for nature—bringing the classroom outdoors.
