Year 7 & 8

Year 7 latest

This week’s Silent Disco, held in the dance studios of our new campus at Murray Street, created the perfect atmosphere for a night of lights, glow sticks and non-stop music. Students enjoyed making requests and dancing together, with one of the highlights of the social being the repeated play of Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley, which had everyone joining in “enthusiastically”. After plenty of energy on the dance floor, the group moved up to Level 2 to share pizza and drinks. It was a fantastic opportunity to see so many of our Year 7s having fun, celebrating together and continuing to strengthen the friendships, bonds and connections that are such an important part of their transition into secondary school life. Thank you to all staff and our fantastic Year 12 leaders who helped on the night to ensure its success.

Year 8 latest

The Year 8 social is just around the corner and is set to be an exciting afternoon for students. They will head into the city straight after school in Week 8 for bowling, arcade games and pizza. More details will be provided soon, but we are confident it will be an enjoyable and memorable event for the whole year group cohort. I encourage as many as possible to attend.

In addition, our Year 8 Wellness Day is being planned to address issues that are particularly relevant to this age group. The focus will be on developing resilience, making positive choices, and continuing to build strong peer connections and support. Watch this space for more details.

Reminders for both year groups

An assessment timetable has been provided to each student to display inside their locker and they are encouraged to record all key dates in their diary. This planning will hopefully reduce any stress or anxiety and help them approach their assessments with confidence.

I have also reminded students of the school’s expectations around mobile phone use, uniform presentation and responsible laptop use, ensuring that we maintain a positive and respectful learning environment.

We are halfway through the term already. Keep it up 7s and 8s!
