Our new Ballet Company

St George's Ballet Dance Company takes off

This week marked the exciting launch of our brand-new Ballet Dance Company, and what a fantastic first session it was! The studio was filled with energy, focus, and a genuine love for dance as students dived into classical training with commitment and enthusiasm.

Led with confidence and leadership by Year 12 student Mackenzie Marshall, the company explored a wide range of foundational ballet techniques. Centrework challenged students to refine their balance and posture, while the barre provided an opportunity to develop strength and precision through exercises including tendu, dégagé, piqué, coupé, and plié. Mackenzie guided the group with clarity, inspiring both discipline and joy in the process. Next week, Year 11 student Olivia Gordon will be teaching a corner phrase also!

The session was truly jam-packed, with students not only consolidating their technical foundations but also beginning work on the company’s first performance routine. It was incredible to see dancers already moving together with focus and artistry, setting the tone for what promises to be a strong and rewarding journey ahead.

The Ballet Dance Company offers students the chance to build on core ballet skills that strengthen all styles of dance, helping every participant grow in technique, discipline, and confidence. With such a strong start, we are excited to see this group flourish and showcase their hard work in future school events.

Congratulations to all who participated today, what a successful beginning!
