Year 10 Camp
Cover story
This week our Year 10 cohort spent three days at Forest Edge in Waroona for a camp that proved to be equal parts challenging, rewarding and memorable. Despite a few thunderstorms rolling through, spirits remained high, and students made the most of every opportunity across their two nights away.
We were fortunate to enjoy some beautiful weather on Monday, which allowed students to launch into their activities while taking in the scenic views from the campgrounds overlooking the city surrounds. The program was filled with adventure, including the Big Fox (zip line), an incentive course that tested navigation skills, team-building challenges, and a few very wet obstacles – particularly on the rainy days!
Students also explored mindfulness during a guided walk, with many enjoying a moment of calm amidst the excitement. The brand-new abseiling wall and the ever popular pamper pole were clear favourites, with many students pushing themselves beyond their comfort zones and celebrating each other’s achievements.
Evenings were just as lively. A wild quiz night saw students testing their knowledge and working together to solve riddles, before winding down with marshmallows by the campfire. These moments allowed friendships to strengthen, stories to be shared, and, of course, a little karaoke and basketball to round out the fun.
What stood out most was the kindness and support shown by this cohort to each other. Throughout the camp, students consistently rallied around each other, encouraging their peers when activities felt tough and celebrating every success. At night, the laughter, camaraderie, and genuine connection within the group highlighted the caring and inclusive nature of this year group. Thank You Year 10s.
We are so proud of the Year 10s for the way they embraced the camp experience – showing resilience, compassion, and a willingness to take on new challenges.
This camp would not have been possible without the dedication and energy of our staff. A heartfelt thank you to Mr Brad Cotterell, Ms Jodie Scheele, Mr Damien Kerrigan, Ms Robyn Day, Mr Alex Hanssen, Ms Chloe Hewitt, Dr Brett Jenkins, Miss Abbey Tobin and Mr Tim Hayward for their guidance, encouragement, and care across the week. Their support ensured that every student felt safe, included, and able to enjoy the full camp experience.
Well done, Year 10s – you have not only created lasting memories but also strengthened the bonds that make your year group so special.
