On Tuesday, our Year 9 Outdoor Education students travelled to Mills Park, Beckenham, to compete in the WA State Orienteering Championships. Representing St George’s Anglican Grammar School in both the Under 15 Boys and Under 15 Girls Pair Divisions, students demonstrated excellent teamwork, resilience and navigation skills throughout the day.
The event featured more than 15 schools from across Western Australia, with competitors working in pairs to navigate the course, locate checkpoints and accumulate points. With 71 pairs competing in the Boys Division and 57 pairs in the Girls Division, the championships attracted over 250 participants, making for a highly competitive event.
Our students represented the school with pride, embracing the challenge and displaying outstanding sportsmanship. While we may not have claimed the overall title, we can proudly say we were among the fastest competitors on the course!
Congratulations to the following students:
Boys 15 Pairs
37th – Matt Hardie & Stephen Randolph (520 points) – 1st team finished in division
61st – Fintan Doyle & Ashdin Mistry (460 points) – 2nd team finished in division

23rd – Chloe Dillon & Scarlett Vuletich (550 points)

48th – Romilly Blair & Bonnie Wicks (460 points)
49th – Tayla Green & Alice Kosovich (460 points)

The championships provided a fantastic opportunity for students to apply the skills they have developed throughout the semester and was a fitting way to conclude the Year 9 Outdoor Education program for Semester One. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and the way they represented the school throughout the day.

St George’s proudly sent two teams to compete in the ACC Hockey Carnival during Week 9 of Term Two. The squads featured students from Years 7 to 12, providing a valuable opportunity for our younger players to gain experience and learn from their senior peers.
The leadership demonstrated by our Year 12 students throughout both days was outstanding. We extend our sincere thanks to Cate Williams, Alyssa Peake, Seb Munday, Elliot Notelaers, and Bryn Douglas for the exemplary leadership, encouragement, and support they provided to their teammates.
Held at the State Hockey Stadium, the carnival was a fantastic experience for all involved. Both teams competed with great determination, skill, and sportsmanship throughout the day, showcasing the depth of hockey talent within our school community.
Thank you to all students who participated and represented St George’s with pride. Your commitment and enthusiasm made the event a great success.
Our next major event is the Interhouse Athletics Carnival on Wednesday, 29 July, Week 2 of Term Three. We are fortunate to host the carnival at the outstanding WA Athletics Stadium in Floreat, providing students with the opportunity to compete in a professional athletics environment.
The venue offers an excellent preparation opportunity for students who may go on to represent the school at the ACC Athletics Carnival later in the term. We encourage all students to participate and contribute to the spirit and success of the day.
Families are welcome to attend and support our students throughout the carnival. Further information regarding the schedule, transport arrangements, and other logistical details will be communicated immediately after the holidays.
