And just like that, Semester One has come to a close. What a semester it has been for Cowan House. From the Swimming Carnival and Sync Swim to Performing Arts, Cross Country and House Week, there has certainly been a tinge of blue across the school. As we celebrate one year since our introduction to the St George's community, it is incredible to reflect on how far we have come.

In our very first edition of The Dragon one year ago, I was asked how Cowan House would create a strong sense of identity and belonging for students, and what my hopes were for the future. Looking back now, I believe our students have answered both questions.

Through outstanding attendance, participation and enthusiasm across House events, students have embraced the opportunity to shape what Cowan House represents. Strong connections continue to grow within our Pastoral Care Groups and across year levels, creating a genuine sense of belonging. At the halfway point of the year, Cowan House sits in a competitive third place on 2,000 points, just 70 points behind Lincoln House. More importantly, students have taken pride in their House, supported one another and represented Cowan with integrity. For a House in its first official year, that is something we can all be proud of.

One semester down and many more to go. Thank you to every Cowan student and staff member who has helped shape our story so far. What started as an idea has quickly become a House full of pride, connection and opportunity, and I cannot wait to see where the next semester takes us. Enjoy a well-earned break!

What an incredible first half of the year for Gandhi House. Students have embraced opportunities with enthusiasm, positivity and pride, consistently representing our House to the best of their ability. Whether competing at carnivals, performing on stage, participating in House Week activities or supporting one another in their PCGs, our students have demonstrated the strong sense of community and House spirit that makes Gandhi House so special.

I would like to thank our Gandhi House Captain, Jade Fletcher, and House Prefect, Harvey Miller, for their outstanding efforts this semester. Their organisation, leadership, guidance and unwavering support of Gandhi House spirit have been incredible and greatly appreciated. I would also like to acknowledge our wider Year 12 leadership team, whose hard work behind the scenes has helped organise House events and ensure strong participation and enthusiasm across the House.

Preparations for Term Three are already under way, with rehearsals for Battle of the Bands having commenced. Our Year 12 leaders are working hard alongside students from across the House, and we are all looking forward to seeing their performance in Week 8.

We also look ahead to the Interhouse Athletics Carnival in Week 2. I encourage all students to get involved, support one another and continue building on the momentum we have established so far this year.

I hope all students and families have a safe, relaxing and enjoyable holiday break, and I look forward to seeing everyone back for another exciting term.

As I look back on what a fantastic Semester One it has been for Lincoln House, I can’t help but feel pride for the commitment and passion that our staff and students have for their House and the School.

From the Cowan Charity Day Chant Off, Sync Swim, Interhouse Performing Arts, sports events, House Week and more, the students have demonstrated time and time again what it means to be a member of Lincoln House.

Our weekly PCG Quizzes have concluded for the term with Lincoln 1 taking home the victory. Engagement in PULSE has also been steadily improving with L3 once again achieving the highest completion rate for the term.

Lincoln Charity Day is always a fantastic way to conclude a busy term. The students enjoyed being able to enjoy a snack while spending time with their friends, spending an afternoon at Moort-ak Waadiny  (Wellington Square) where they participated in a Lapathon to raise money for Headspace.

Donations have been steadily coming through, and I would like to thank everyone who has already donated. The donation link will remain active until early next term when the data is collected, and we announce winners for students who raised the most funds and completed the most laps.

Mental health illness is now one of the leading health concerns in Australia, and by bringing awareness and raising funds for organisations such as Headspace we begin to remove the stigma surrounding mental health and be able to provide support for those who need it. Thank you to everyone who has supported the Charity Day and for helping to raise awareness for such an important cause.

Now is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the energy, commitment and House spirit shown by Mandela students throughout the first half of 2026. It has been fantastic to see so many students getting involved in House events, competitions, PCG activities and supporting one another across the school.

A sincere thank you to all Mandela students who have contributed to House life this semester. Your willingness to participate, encourage others and represent Mandela with pride continues to build the positive and connected community we are so fortunate to have.

I would also like to acknowledge our outstanding Mandela Captain and School Prefect, Benji Yan and Alyssa Peake, along with the wider Year 12 Leadership Team. Their work ethic, care for others and dedication to Mandela House have set an excellent example for students across all year groups.

Looking ahead to Term Three, we begin with several exciting House events, including the Interhouse Athletics Carnival on Wednesday of Week 2. This is one of the biggest events on the House calendar, and we hope to see every Mandela student involved on the day. Participation is so important, and every student has the chance to contribute, whether competing, supporting peers or showing House spirit from the sidelines.

For our Year 12 students, this carnival is especially significant as one of their final opportunities to represent Mandela and contribute valuable points toward the House Cup.

I wish all Mandela students and families a safe and relaxing holiday break. I look forward to seeing everyone return refreshed and ready for an exciting Term Three.
