Year 11 & 12
Head of Year, Miss Giorgia Bakeberg
We have reached the halfway point of the year, and what a semester it has been.
As we head into the holidays, I hope our Year 11 and Year 12 students take the opportunity to rest and recharge after a busy first half of the year. Do things that fill your cup, whether that be spending time with family and friends, trying something new or revisiting a hobby that has been pushed aside throughout the term. Make time for the things that bring you joy.
Term Three brings with it some extraordinary opportunities for both year groups.
For our Year 12 students, it’s the final term at St George's. There are still so many moments ahead of you, final school events, final House activities, final opportunities to represent your School and create memories with one another. These are moments that only come around once, so make the most of them.
There are also significant milestones on the horizon. Mock Exams, Valedictory preparations and the important decisions that come with planning for life beyond school. Whilst this time is exciting, it can also feel overwhelming. Support one another, celebrate each other's successes, and remember to take things one step at a time.
It is also the time to start looking ahead. Whether your pathway leads to university, TAFE, employment, a gap year, or something entirely different, exciting opportunities lie ahead. The finish line is now in sight, and the future that you have been working towards is closer than ever.
For our Year 11 students, next term will be an opportunity to step up and show what you are capable of. Applications for the 2027 Student Leadership Team will begin from Day 1, and we will be looking for students who lead with integrity, demonstrate the values of St George's, and are committed to making a positive difference within our community.
Leadership is not only about the badge that you wear. It is about the example that you set. It is reflected in the way you support others, contribute to the culture of the School, and embrace opportunities for growth. I encourage all Year 11 students to use Term 3 as a chance to challenge themselves, step outside their comfort zones, and continue becoming the people they aspire to be.

Since arriving from Belgium through the Rotary Exchange Program a year ago, Elliot has embraced every opportunity and become a much-loved member of our school community. His positivity, willingness to get involved, and genuine appreciation for Australian life have left a lasting impression on students and staff alike.
At our Student-Led Chapel this week, the Year 12 cohort presented Elliot with a Socceroos jersey and scarf and a signed Australian flag as a farewell gift and a reminder of his time in Australia.

We thank Elliot for all that he has contributed during his time at St George's, and for the friendships, memories, and experiences he has shared with our community. We trust that his time in Perth will stay with him long after he returns home.
Elliot is going back to study EU Law in the Netherlands and he can’t wait to eat a cheese fondue!
On behalf of the entire St George's community, I wish Elliot every success in the adventures that lie ahead. May his future be filled with opportunity, discovery and happiness.
