The library was full of activity this term.

Hajj week was a wonderful way to highlight the library range of Hajj books. From picture books for our foundation students to more detailed books outlining the journey

of those undertaking Hajj.

Kindness day is such a lovely time in the library as we watch students show empathy towards others and our colouring club was full of smiles and bright creativity.

Craft & colouring club is a staple in the library and this term was no different. Every week the room is full of students laughing, sharing and using their imaginations. Mindful colouring is always popular, along with creating art with cutting and pasting. There are

some truly talented artists among us.

Literacy week was held this term. The students were enthusiastic and engaged as they got creative writing poetry with our visiting author, Joel McKerrow. The library also ran its annual literacy week trivia. Student scouring the shelves for the answers, and learning a little on the way. Our lunchtime activity this year was creating corner

bookmarks using origami. A very popular event!

The craft and colouring club, a favourite amongst the primary students, is back again this year and it is wonderful to see the imaginations and creativeness of the students each week. This term, the library team and the craft club students worked together to create a number of beautiful Ramadan displays to highlight the books we have that celebrate this

 very special occasion.

Term 2 – Library News – A Busy Humanities Week!

The library has been buzzing with activity during Humanities Week, providing students with exciting opportunities to engage in literacy, creativity, and wellbeing initiatives.

One of the highlights was our annual Poetry Competition, which invited students to explore the theme of Identity and Belonging. We were delighted by the quality of the entries, with students demonstrating creativity, insight, and a strong personal connection to the theme. Congratulations to all participants and our prize winners, who were awarded QBD book vouchers and Dojo points for their outstanding work. All poetry entries will also be compiled into a special Poetry Collection for the library.

Year 7 and 8 students also participated in the Novel Study Quiz, an interactive competition completed using digital technology. Students worked through engaging quiz questions based on their Term 2 class novels, testing their comprehension and analytical skills in a fun and collaborative way. Cash prizes and Dojo points were awarded to students who

achieved 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

We are also proud to announce the launch of our new Wellbeing Collection, developed in collaboration with the School Counsellors. This dedicated section aims to support student wellbeing through carefully selected resources that encourage positive habits, self-reflection, and personal growth. New titles include The Barakah Effect, Unfollow the Flow, and A Busy Time, along with a range of other wellbeing-focused resources.

It has been a busy and rewarding term in the library and we look forward to continuing to provide engaging programs, resources, and opportunities that support learning, wellbeing, and a love of reading across our school community.
